There are several different types of tattoos out there today; there are the tribal, hearts, flaming skulls and so many others. However today I want to talk about one particular kind of tattoo and that is the Dragon Tattoo.

This design offers a unique style that many people would not normally think when they consider a tattoo. When you are talking about dragon tattoos you need to remember that there are generally four different kinds of design, these are Western, Eastern, Chinese and Japanese. I will explain what each design represents and help you decide which design is the best one for you in expressing yourself by the form of art.

The first kind of dragon tattoo design is often referred to as the Western design. This design is usually considered to be a sign of anger, or negative energy. The design is represented by a dragon that features wide wings, sharp teeth and a pointed head. This design is not as popular as the other three, and is often considered to be a sign of aggression so if your not that type of person it will not be a good fit for you.

The next type is called a Eastern Dragon tattoo. Unlike it's Western counterpart this design is actually meant to represent positive energy and good luck. The design is not as angry looking as the Western and does not come across as being as intimidating as the Western.

The Chinese Dragon tattoo design has a large number of variations with the most common of these designs being a dragon the means rain. This is the more popular of the designs as it comes across as being a very neutral design and does not invoke anger or come across as being in a threating manner.

The last dragon tattoo design is the Japanese. This design is a symbol of power, kindness and freedom. These designs are very popular and are usually found on the arm more than any other place. I personally would suggest if you are thinking about a design that you get the Japanese version as it is the most generally sought after design of the four.

This has been a quick overview of the four dragon tattoo designs, I hope that this has been helpful in assisting you in deciding which design is the best fit for you and your attitude after all you don't want to send the wrong message with the wrong design tattoo.
